It’s a summer day in South Philly in 1933, and 12-year-old Gennaro lives with his widowed mom and his ailing Italian grandpa, who announces his imminent death. Gennaro is more interested in finding a quarter so he can go to the grand opening of the brand new La Paloma Theater. But grandpa won’t pass on a quarter until he resolves some unfinished business with a woman from his past, enlisting Gennaro to act as his emissary.
