Tribeca Film and Miramax Announce Distribution Deal for Last Night Starring Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington, Eva Mendes and Guillame Canet
NEW YORK, NY and SANTA MONICA, CA – Tribeca Film and Miramax today announced they are teaming up on the U.S. release of Last Night, an intricately layered relationship drama starring Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington, Eva Mendes and Guillaume Canet. Tribeca Film has acquired theatrical, VOD and select digital rights to Last Night and plans to release the film in Spring 2011 theatrically in multiple U.S. markets, including New York and Los Angeles, and also via national VOD outlets and on additional platforms.
LONDON, UK – Miramax and Pathé International are teaming up on Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, a tale of hair-raising, spine-chilling horror from Producers Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Devil’s Backbone, and The Orphanage) and Mark Johnson (Chronicles of Narnia). One of the most eagerly anticipated horror films of 2011, the film stars Katie Holmes (Batman Begins, The Gift) and Guy Pearce (The King’s Speech, Memento, L.A. Confidential) and marks the feature directorial debut of acclaimed comic book illustrator Troy Nixey, following his acclaimed short Latchkey’s Lament.
SANTA MONICA, CA – Miramax today announced the first appointments to its new Management team. Steve Schoch has been named Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, responsible for finance and accounting, business development, operations and IT. Krista Wegener has been named Vice President, Head of International Distribution, responsible for licensing of the Miramax library and new releases outside the U.S. via third party distribution partners. Additionally, Thomas Moreno has been named Senior Vice President, Operations and will also run the company’s website, www.miramax.com.

Miramax’s new development projects include both TV and film. Currently the studio is working with industry luminaries to create new derivative television series based on their respective award-winning stories and characters. These titles include Gangs of New York with Martin Scorsese, Cop Land with James Mangold, and Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, which is in active production. Miramax, together with Sony’s Screen Gems, will release Jeremy Garelick’s film The Wedding Ringer (starring Kevin Hart, Josh Gad and Kaley Cuoco) on January 16, 2015.
Miramax was purchased in 2010 by Qatar Holding, together with the investor group led by Miramax Chairman Thomas J. Barrack, Jr.’s Colony Capital, and is headquartered in Santa Monica, California with a sales office in London.
