The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences uploaded this photo to its Facebook page yesterday, coupled with the following caption:

This picture is not a hoax.

The role of Marty McFly in "Back to the Future" originally went to Eric Stoltz, but after a few weeks of production, Michael J. Fox took over.

Stoltz would go on to star in more than 100 films and TV series, though he's perhaps best known for his role as Lance -- the cereal-munching, Christ-like drug dealer from Pulp Fiction. He may have missed out on Back to the Future, but he'll always be remembered for supplying the hypo that went through Mia Wallace's heart.
