South Korean artist group Shinseungback Kimyonghun has created “a custom software that detects faces from every 24 frames of a movie, and creates an average face of all found faces.” The result is haunting, 3D-like effect that also captures the visual mood of the film.

Check out their portraits for Amélie, Kill Bill: Vol. 1, Old Boy and Taxi Driver below and watch a video that shows how the composite for Avatar was created.

Amélie

Amélie Poulain makes up the majority of this composite, but we also see a bit of Lucien’s eyes.

Kill Bill: Vol. 1
