Charlize Theron has been all over the news lately, thanks to her starring roles in both Prometheus and Snow White and the Huntsman. But long before she was Meredith Vickers, Queen Ravenna, or even Aileen Wuornos, Theron was better known for her role as Candy Kendall -- Tobey Maguire's illicit love interest in The Cider House Rules. Directed by Lasse Hallstrom, Cider House was released in 1999, and would go on to earn seven Oscar nominations, winning two. The film's success also helped spur Theron's burgeoning career, establishing her as one of Hollywood's most alluring young stars, and one of its most gifted thespians.
The Cider House Rules is now available for streaming on Netflix. Also new this week are two other titles from the Miramax Library: Adventureland, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart, and Life is Beautiful, which earned Roberto Benigni an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1999.
