Focus Features today released a full-length trailer for Gus Van Sant's new film Promised Land, starring Matt Damon and John Krasinski. The movie, which went into production in April, follows the story of Steve Butler (Damon), a salesman who arrives in a rural town on business. He and colleague Sue Thomason (Frances McDormand) hope to obtain drilling rights across the town, but their plans are soon met with objections.
Here's how co-star Titus Welliver described the film to Hollywood News:
"It has great story because it's really about the issue we face right now with this hydro-fracking. Within that framework is a story about people and how they navigate the idea of making a lot of money when things aren't exactly how they seem on the surface. It's about people going through changes and how they perceive things or what the truths the ideals are that they have, how they change as things unfold. That was an incredible experience."
Promised Land will be released in the US on December 28th.
