The Hollywood Reporter confirmed today that Quentin Tarantino will receive the Hollywood Screenwriter Award for his upcoming film Django Unchained at this year’s Hollywood Film Awards. The ceremony will be held on October 22nd at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, CA.
The Hollywood Film Awards recognize actors, directors, and other luminaries for work released within the calendar year, as well as career achievements. Winners are determined by a committee helmed by executive director Carlos de Abreu, founder of the Hollywood Film Festival. When the curtain goes up on this year’s event, Tarantino will join a group of previous screenwriting honorees that includes Aaron Sorkin, Eric Roth, and Doubt director John Patrick Shanley. “We are delighted to have this opportunity to celebrate Quentin for his unique and exceptional creative vision,” de Abreu told THR.
Django Unchained will be released in theaters on December 25th. Our commemorative Tarantino XX: 8-Film Collection Blu-ray box set, celebrating 20 years of Tarantino films, is available for pre-order now.
