We've known him as Christy Brown in My Left Foot, Hawkeye in Last of the Mochicans, Gerry Conlan in In the Name of the Father, Bill 'The Butcher' in Gangs of New York, Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood and President Lincoln in Lincoln. Now add Sir Daniel Day-Lewis to the distinguished list.

Queen Elizabeth recently knighted Day-Lewis along with 1,100 people from the UK and beyond. According to the BBC, Daniel Day-Lewis said he was "entirely amazed and utterly delighted in equal measure" to receive the honor.

Three Oscars and a Knighthood. Well played, Day-Lewis, well played.
