In 1994, just ahead of Pulp Fiction‘s theatrical release, Quentin Tarantino sat down for a brief interview with David Letterman. Ostensibly, he was there to promote Pulp, though Tarantino spent much of his time discussing his unusual career path, including the time he spent working as a video store clerk in southern California. He did touch upon the film, however, discussing the origin of its title, as well as the now-iconic dance scene with John Travolta and Uma Thurman. Tarantino’s improvised dance routine was cut short, though Letterman concluded the interview by predicting that “this movie is just gonna go through the roof.”
