Paul Thomas Anderson's next film, The Master, won't hit theaters until September 14th, but some lucky fans in Chicago are being treated to an advance screening tonight. The movie, which stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, and Amy Adams, is being screened in 70mm tonight at the Music Box Theater. Unfortunately, tickets are completely and heart-breakingly sold out, though we can all take solace in the fact that there's a new teaser clip for us to dissect.
Released in promotion of tonight's event, the above clip features Hoffman giving a stirring speech as Lancaster Dodd, with Phoenix, playing the role of Freddie Quell, listening on among Dodd's followers. The clip eventually cuts to a shot of Quell giving what appears to be an uncomfortable testimonial about his past, with Jonny Greenwood's agitated score providing the backdrop.
