“We are thrilled to have Lauren join us as President of Television,” said Miramax CEO Bill Block
September 06, 2018 – Los Angeles, CAMiramax announced today that Lauren Whitney will be joining the company as President of Television.
“We are thrilled to have Lauren join us as President of Television,” said Miramax CEO Bill Block. “She is creative, has strong talent relationships, a proven track record of getting shows on the air and is an industry leader. I know that her clear vision will launch our production and development and yield a strong slate shows for the global audience.”
“Building an independent television studio is a thrilling challenge,” said Whitney. “Between Miramax/beIN Media's sizable commitment to investing in scripted television, and the valuable titles in the library, the opportunities that lie ahead of us are massive. We will be aggressive in our pursuit of the artists and the material that excite us. And most importantly, we will be excellent partners to the talented people with whom we are lucky enough to work.”
Whitney joins Miramax from Legendary, where she was president of scripted television. At Legendary, she oversaw a robust and ever-expanding Television Division that includes Series Development, Production, Marketing and Distribution. She oversaw the production of series including Colony at USA, Love at Netflix, both renewed for third seasons; Carnival Row, starring Orlando Bloom, now in production for Amazon; The Looming Tower at Hulu, starring Jeff Daniels, Tahar Rahim and Alec Baldwin; and a Lost in Space reboot in the works for Netflix.
Prior to Legendary, Whitney was a television agent at The William Morris Agency and later WME, representing writers and producers and specializing in the development of intellectual property.
