LOS ANGELES, Dec 12, 2016 — MIRAMAX® have acquired US distribution rights to I, TONYA, by Steven Rogers, the incredible true life story of controversial figure skater Tonya Harding with Margot Robbie starring as Harding and Craig Gillespie directing. The edgy comedy will be produced by Bryan Unkeless for Clubhouse Pictures, Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley for LuckyChap Entertainment and Steven Rogers, who also wrote the screenplay. Len Blavatnik and Aviv Giladi will executive produce for AI Film, which is financing the project. Rosanne Korenberg will oversee the project for Miramax.

I, TONYA peels back the layers of Tonya Harding’s sensationalized involvement in the 1994 attack on rival figure skater Nancy Kerrigan, exposing the absurd, tragic and hilarious story-behind-the-story of one of the most infamous scandals in the history of Olympic Games figure skating.

Margot Robbie: “The script is unbelievable, it's unlike anything I've read before and I know Craig's approach with the material and the characters will be executed brilliantly.  Tom and I at LuckyChap are so grateful to partner with Bryan for what will hopefully be the first of many jobs together.”

Zanne Devine, Head of Film & TV, Miramax: “Miramax is thrilled to be working on this exciting project with such a tremendous group, led by the incredibly talented Margot Robbie, the unique directing vision of Craig Gillespie, Steven Rogers’ exquisite writing talent, and the wonderfully passionate producers Bryan Unkeless and Tom Ackerley. We are delighted to collaborate once again with our friends Aviv Giladi, Len Blavatnik and their team at AI Film as well as Nick Meyer and Sierra/Affinity.”

Aviv Giladi at AI Film: “We are delighted to welcome Miramax as our US distribution partner. Their passion, enthusiasm and commitment to I, TONYA matches our own at AI FILM, and we look forward to embarking on the journey together to bring this great project to life."

Margot Robbie and LuckyChap are represented by Management 360, CAA and attorney Jeff Bernstein. Robbie is additionally represented by Aran Michael Management. Steven Rogers is represented by Gersh. Gillespie is represented by UTA and Management 360.

UTA Independent Film Group and CAA handled representation of US domestic rights with Sierra/Affinity handling international sales.
