Lauren Whitney joined Miramax as the President of Television in October of 2017. Since joining the company, she’s overseen the development of Gone Baby Gone, based on the best-selling book by Dennis Lehane, which just received a pilot order at FBC. The pilot, written by Robert Levine and to be directed by Phillip Noyce, will begin shooting in March.
Lauren came to Miramax from Legendary, where she was the President of Scripted Television. After just over two years at the studio, Lauren oversaw a robust Television Division that included Series Development, Production, Marketing and Distribution.
The Looming Tower, a drama series for Hulu based on Lawrence Wright’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book on the events leading up to 9/11, was written by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Daniel Futterman (Capote), directed by Emmy and Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney (Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief), and stars Emmy Award-winner Jeff Daniels, Cesar Award-Winner Tahar Rahim, Emmy and Golden Globe-Winner, and Oscar Nominee Alec Baldwin, Emmy Nominee Bill Camp, Golden Globe Nominee Michael Stuhlbarg, and Golden Globe Nominee Peter Saarsgard. This complex and ambitious series was shot in New York, South Africa, and Morocco.
Lost in Space is a massive reboot of the original family adventure series produced for Netflix, Executive Produced by Zach Estrin, Burke Sharpless & Matt Sazama, Neil Marshall, Marc Helwig, Jon Jashni and Kevin Burns. The international ensemble cast features Parker Posey (Café Society), Molly Parker (House of Cards) and Toby Stephens (Black Sails), and was shot in Vancouver.
Carnival Row is an inspiringly ambitious series set in a neo Victorian fantasy world being produced for Amazon. The series was written by Rene Echevarria, based upon the feature script by Travis Beacham, both of whom are Executive Producing the series. It is being shot in Prague with an exceptional cast lead by Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne.
